Mother’s Day is to honor and respect all mothers which is being celebrated every year on second Sunday of the month of May. Mother's Day was originated in the North America in order to honor the mothers .Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914. Mother's Day is celebrated every year to salute the motherhood and also for increasing the maternal bonds to children as the affections are decreasing for sons/daughters once they became elder. So that Mother's Day is celebrated all over the world to increase the influence of mothers in the society and to create the awareness about Mother's love and affection.

Mother’s day 2016 would be celebrated all over the world on 8th of May, at Sunday.
Mother's Day is the time to rejoice and give respect to the mother by understanding her importance. Mother is like a Goddess for everyone who never wants anything back from children. She only wants to make her children happy,a responsible and good human being. Our mothers are motivational and guiding force for us which helps us to always go ahead and overcome any problem.Mother's Day is being celebrated in many countries such as India, US, UK, China, Mexico, Denmark, Italy, Finland, Turkey, Australia, Canada, Japan and Belgium. People celebrate this day with great enthusiasm and joy by organizing many activities to pay tribute to the lovely mothers.

History of Mother’s Day


The roots of the American Mother’s Day was from the 19th century. In the years before the Civil War (1861-65), Ann Reeves Jarvis (Founder of Mother’s Day)of West Virginia helped to start “Mothers’ Day Work Clubs” to teach local women how to properly care for their children. She was an unmarried woman and she was highly inspired by her mother’s care and love and decided to suggest a day for mothers to honor them.

Mother’s Day celebration was first started in the ancient era by the Greek and Romans. The celebration of mother’s day has been modernized everywhere. It is celebrated in modern ways and not in years old ways. It is being celebrated in almost 46 countries of the world . It is a big event for everyone when they get chance and opportunity to honor their mothers. Earlier, the ancient people of Greek were highly dedicated to their maternal goddesses on special occasion of annual spring festival. As per the Greek mythology, they were celebrating mother's day occasion in order to honor the Rhea (means the wife of Cronus as well as mother of many deities). Ancient Roman people were also celebrating a spring festival named as Hilaria which was dedicated to the Cybele (means a mother goddess). At that time, devotees were used of making offerings in front of the mother Goddess Cybele in the temple. The whole celebration was organized for three days long with lot of activities like variety of games, parades and masquerades. Mother’s day is also celebrated by the Christians on fourth Sunday in order to respect the Virgin Mary who is the Mother of Christ. Another history of Mothers Day celebration is in England around 1600's. Christians worship the Virgin Mary, offer some gifts and flowers and pay tribute to Her. Mother’s day in the US was decided to be celebrated as an official event by the ideas of Julia Ward Howe who was a poet, activist and writer in the year 1872.

How Mother’s Day is Celebrated


Mother’s Day is a very special day of the year for everyone. People who care and love their mothers celebrate this special occasion in many ways. It is an only day of the year which has been dedicated to all the mothers in this world. People in various countries celebrate this event on different dates and days according to the country norms and calendar. In India it is celebrated every year on second Sunday of the month of May in almost all regions of the country. The ways of celebration has been changed a lot in this modern time all over the India. It has become an event of big awareness in the society. Everyone wants to participate and celebrate this event according to their own way. It is the indication of presence of foreign festival in this culturally diverse country. It is a global event celebrated in many countries.

Ways of Celebrating Mother's Day:


As High technologies like computer and internet has brought a huge revolution in the society, people celebrate Mother's Day by posting the wishes to their mothers in social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many more. Even with social media only, people are highly aware about Mother's Day and doing their celebration. This is the day that we can realize the love, hard work and motivational thoughts of our mothers. Mother is a great person in our life who makes our life so simple and easy with her caring love.

 
Nowadays, grand celebrations are being organized on the mother’s day by the teachers in-front of the those kids mothers in-order to make them aware about the event and know the importance of mother's day. On this day, each student tells something about their mother and their love on them as poems, essay writing, speech narration, dancing, singing, etc. Mothers are also sing songs or dance to entertain the kids. Mothers are also bring some sweets to the school and distribute equally to all students of the class at the end of celebration. Kids also give their moms greeting cards or other thing as a gift. Kids go to restaurants, malls, parks, etc places with their parents to enjoy in different ways. Some people go to temples, churches depending on their religion to do a pray about their mother to the God. Mother’s day is a holiday in some countries in order to give full opportunity to kids to enjoy with family and have lots of fun. It is a wonderful day for mothers to keep them away from all the household works and responsibilities.Some of them make their mothers surprised by doing the all house work before their mother wakes up and prepare some favorite dish to surprise mothers. At this day, kids do not disturb their mothers and let them sleep late in the morning . Some kids do shopping and go to restaurants.
